Legislative Initiative Improving the Legal Protection of TV Companies Debated

The deputy of the Civil Contract Faction Sisak Gabrielyan proposes addenda to the law on Audiovisual Media for improving the legal protection of the TV companies.

If the decision of the Regulating state body on giving slot license of the public multiplex on the bases of not being decently substantiated and reasoned, was recognized invalid with the decision entered into force, the broadcast of the with free slot on the same conditions, on the basis of their application, the licensed broadcasters will carry out meanwhile, before being recognized winner in the new license competition by the order established by law.

The member of the NA Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Hasmik Hakobyan present ed the endorsement of the Committee. According to her, as a result of the adoption of the initiative, it will be possible to protect the right of being aware of the TV audience, as well as to decrease the financial losses of the entities’ activity.

The opinion of the Government on the draft was also positive: he RA Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Avet Poghosyan presented it.

The issue was debated in the first reading at November 15 NA sitting.
